K Rend & silicone render
Through-coloured render on houses, extensions and new builds.
Rendering in MarpleOn the edge of the Peak, where the weather is a genuine factor in how long a render lasts.
Marple, Romiley and High Lane sit right on the boundary between Greater Manchester and the Peak District, and they get noticeably more weather than the rest of our patch.
That matters more than people expect. An exposed gable in Marple takes a hammering that the same wall in Cheadle simply doesn’t, and it shows up in how render fails and how quickly it stains.
A real mixture: stone-built cottages and terraces from the canal and mill era, Victorian and Edwardian housing through Marple Bridge, and post-war estates spreading out from the centre. Exposure is the common thread — west and south-west facing elevations here take the worst of the driven rain.
For exposed properties we pay particular attention to the water detailing — bell casts, drips and how the cills throw rain clear. On a sheltered house you might get away without; up here you won’t.

Questions
Almost always because water is running down the face of the wall instead of being thrown clear — a blocked gutter, a cracked downpipe, a cill with no drip, or a missing bell cast at the base. Cleaning it off without fixing that just resets the clock for a couple of winters.
Particularly so. A silicone system is water repellent but still breathable, so rain beads off the face while moisture in the wall can still escape. On an exposed elevation that difference is the whole point.
It depends on the size of the job, what's already there and how much preparation it needs, which is why we visit before confirming a figure. You'll get an itemised written price with no obligation to go ahead.
